The Best AI Shoppable Video Apps for Small Shopify DTC Stores

We compared the pricing pages, Shopify listings, and billing meters of six shoppable video apps a small DTC brand would actually consider. The right pick depends almost entirely on what gates your upgrade: a feature, an impression, or a click.

The verdict

For most small Shopify DTC stores, Moast is the shoppable video app we recommend. The free plan already covers product tagging, unlimited video views, and Instagram and TikTok import, and the $15/month Pro tier is a flat fee with no view or impression meter ticking in the background. If producing video is a bigger problem than embedding it, Whatmore's AI product tagging and daily social auto-sync earn the step up to $29/month. Larger catalogs with budget for impression-based pricing and deeper analytics should look at Videowise, and brands that want AI content tools alongside shoppable playback can start on Tolstoy's $12/month Starter plan. We wouldn't run more than one of these at a time.

This guide is for the owner of a Shopify DTC brand under about $5M in revenue who already has Reels, TikToks, or customer videos sitting on a camera roll and wants them tagged and shoppable on product pages this week. We didn't sit through demos. We compared each app's own pricing page, Shopify App Store listing, and public documentation, plus third-party pricing roundups where they disclosed the primary vendor source.

The category splits cleanly on one dimension that matters more than any feature: how the bill scales. Flat feature-gated apps (Moast) charge a predictable monthly fee regardless of traffic. Click- or view-based apps (Whatmore, Tolstoy, Firework, ReelUp) raise the bill as your videos get watched. Impression- or visitor-based apps (Videowise) tie cost to overall site traffic and streamed minutes. For a small store, the cheapest sticker price is almost never the cheapest actual bill once a product page starts converting, which is why we weight the pricing-gate test as heavily as the features themselves.

How we tested

We evaluated six shoppable video apps a small Shopify DTC store would realistically consider in October 2026. The scores reflect current vendor pricing pages, Shopify App Store listings, public documentation, and the Built for Shopify designation where applicable. We weighted small-store value and pricing predictability most heavily, then install and page-speed fit, content workflow, Shopify ecosystem fit, and the measurement features a founder would actually use.

Small-store value

We priced out each app at two realistic traffic levels for a small Shopify DTC brand: 10,000 and 50,000 monthly PDP sessions, assuming a 20-40% video engagement rate. For each app, we recorded the entry paid tier price from the vendor's own pricing page, the published overage rate for extra views, clicks, or impressions, and the cost of the first tier that would support 50,000 monthly PDP sessions without triggering overage. We then compared the resulting monthly bills across apps.

Pricing predictability

We categorized each app by its primary pricing gate: flat feature tier, monthly video clicks, monthly video views, monthly impressions, or monthly visitors. We scored apps higher when the pricing meter is a unit a store owner can see in their own analytics without a vendor dashboard, and when overage rates are published on the vendor's own site rather than disclosed only after signup.

Install and page-speed fit

We checked each app's Shopify App Store listing for the Built for Shopify designation, the current review count and rating, the published embed weight or page-speed claims, and whether the free or trial tier supports a real on-storefront embed (not just a Shop App preview). Self-reported speed claims were noted as such.

Content workflow

For each app we checked the Shopify listing and vendor pricing page for native Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube import, auto-sync frequency, UGC collection from customers, AI product tagging, and the ability to generate video from product images. We scored apps higher when the content workflow is hands-off for a small team.

Shopify ecosystem fit

We confirmed each app's listed integrations with the apps a small DTC store actually runs: Klaviyo, Judge.me, Loox, the Shop app, TikTok Shop, and Shopify Flow. We also noted whether the free tier publishes to Shop App without a paid upgrade, since that is the one free distribution surface Shopify provides.

Measurement

We checked the vendor pricing page and Shopify listing for revenue attribution per video, A/B testing on widgets, and whether analytics are reserved for higher tiers. We did not run an attribution test. Scores reflect what is publicly documented, not independently verified lift.

The flat $15/month plan with unlimited views, Built for Shopify, and the most generous free tier in the category.

Best forMost small Shopify DTC stores: predictable bill, 5-minute setup, Reels and TikToks tagged on product pages this week

What we liked

  • Flat $15/month Pro tier with no view, impression, or click meter, so a viral TikTok doesn't change the bill
  • Free plan includes product tagging and unlimited views, not just a Shop App preview, a complete starting point for a small catalog
  • Built for Shopify designation and a 5.0 average on the App Store

What to know

  • No native live shopping and no A/B testing feature listed, so stores building a livestream workflow will outgrow it
  • The free plan caps each widget at 10 videos, which forces an upgrade for stores with large UGC libraries

The pick if you post Reels every week and want AI product tagging and daily social sync to do the busywork.

Best forContent-heavy fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands that produce new Instagram and TikTok content weekly

What we liked

  • Daily Instagram and TikTok auto-sync plus AI product matching on every imported video, the most hands-off content workflow in this comparison
  • A/B testing, lead-capture quizzes, and video-in-email appear on the $79/month Growth tier rather than enterprise plans
  • 5.0 average on the Shopify App Store from more than 390 reviews, and a free tier that supports a real storefront embed

What to know

  • Pricing is metered on monthly video clicks, so a strong-converting PDP can push the bill from $29 to $79 or higher inside one quarter
  • The free-tier click allowance is published as 300 on the App Store and 500 on the Whatmore site; confirm the current cap before you plan around it

The deepest widget library and analytics in the category, with a pricing model that's built for larger catalogs.

Best forStores with 50,000+ monthly visitors that want 16+ widget themes, live shopping, and granular placement-level analytics

What we liked

  • 16+ widget themes, video compression, bulk publishing across pages, and TikTok Shop plus Shop App distribution on paid tiers
  • Revenue-level analytics and A/B testing on paid plans, which small stores can rarely get at this price without an enterprise contract
  • Live Shopping is available as an add-on from $49/month on paid plans, so stores testing livestream can bolt it on without switching platforms

What to know

  • The Advanced plan at $299/month is materially higher than every other app in this comparison once a small store needs its full feature set
  • Modular pricing splits shoppable video and the Live Shopping add-on into separate line items that stack quickly
  • Impression-based billing with charges for extra impressions over the plan cap means a traffic spike creates a surprise bill

The cheapest paid entry point if you want AI product content and shoppable playback bundled together.

Best forFashion and beauty stores that want AI-generated product video and a sales chat agent on the same shoppable widget

What we liked

  • $8/month annual Starter is the lowest paid entry point in this comparison, and the free tier publishes to Shop App and TikTok Shop without a credit card
  • AI Studio generates product images and video from your catalog, and the optional AI Sales Agent adds guided shopping on paid tiers
  • Native Shopify integration with a direct Shopify app and theme-block install flow

What to know

  • Viewer-based billing means a successful PDP can push a $12 plan into higher tiers fast
  • Standard on-storefront publishing generally needs a paid Player plan; the free tier mostly covers Shop App, not your own domain
  • Multiple review sources flag unclear overage charges as a repeat complaint, so model your view volume before upgrading

Shoppable video is one of the few on-site changes that reliably lifts conversion on a product page without buying more ads. For a small Shopify DTC brand, the question is almost never whether to add it. It’s which app to install, and which pricing meter you’re willing to run in the background.

Who this is for

This guide is written for the owner or marketing lead of a Shopify DTC store doing roughly $100K to $5M in annual revenue. You already have Reels, TikToks, or customer clips somewhere, and you want them tagged and shoppable on your homepage and product pages this week. If you’re above $20M in annual revenue, running an active livestream commerce program, or syncing videos across multiple brands, you’re closer to the Videowise and Firework audience; our picks still apply, but the price-to-feature math changes.

Our pick: Moast

The reason Moast lands on top for small Shopify stores isn’t a feature. It’s a pricing meter that doesn’t exist. The free plan already covers product tagging, unlimited video views, up to 10 videos per widget, Instagram and TikTok import, Shop App publishing, and basic analytics. The $15/month Pro tier removes the 10-video cap, adds multi-product tagging, enables automatic Instagram sync, removes Moast branding, and turns on revenue attribution. Nothing on the pricing page meters views or impressions, which is the thing most small stores get burned on with the alternatives.

The app also carries the Built for Shopify designation and a 5.0 average across more than 300 Shopify reviews on the listings we checked. The gaps are real but narrow for a small team: no native live shopping, no A/B testing feature listed, and a 10-video cap per widget on the free tier that forces an upgrade when your UGC library grows past a dozen clips. For most small DTC brands, those are the right tradeoffs.

If shoppable video is part of a broader on-site conversion program, pair it with an exit-intent popup and a loyalty program rather than three overlapping video tools.

Runner-up: Whatmore

If your constraint is producing video rather than embedding it, Whatmore is built for you. The free tier covers 300 video clicks per month on an active storefront embed, unlimited active videos on paid plans, floating PDP widgets, and Instagram-style stories. Paid tiers run $29/month Starter (3,000 clicks, 100 videos, daily Instagram auto-sync), $79/month Growth (15,000 clicks, 300 videos, lead capture, A/B testing, video in email), $149/month Scale (40,000 clicks, smart retargeting, out-of-stock auto-disable), and $249/month Premium. The capability that justifies the step up from Moast is the AI product matching: Whatmore syncs Reels and TikToks daily and automatically tags each imported video to the right SKU, which is the piece that normally eats a VA’s week.

The catch is the meter. Whatmore prices on monthly video clicks, so a product page that converts well will push you up a tier. Model your realistic click volume at your current PDP traffic before you commit to the annual plan.

The deeper platform: Videowise

Videowise is the most feature-complete app in this comparison, with 16+ widget themes, video compression tuned for Core Web Vitals, bulk publishing across pages, and native TikTok Shop and Shop App distribution. The pricing is where small stores need to look carefully. Videowise’s public help-center pricing article lists a free plan, a Pro tier at $19/month with 5,000 unique impressions, and an Advanced tier at $299/month with 50,000 unique impressions, plus Live Shopping as a paid add-on from $49/month. The Shopify App Store listing surfaces the same $19/month Pro entry point, which is where most small merchants actually start. If your plan is a $19/month entry and nothing else, Videowise is competitive. If you expect to use Live Shopping or push past the Pro impression cap, model the Advanced tier and the add-on against the real feature list you need, because they stack quickly.

For stores that want revenue attribution and placement-level A/B testing on paid tiers, Videowise still gives you the deepest analytics in this comparison. That’s the main thing it wins on.

The AI-bundled option: Tolstoy

Tolstoy spent the last year repositioning from a shoppable video widget into a broader AI commerce platform, which changes how to evaluate it. The free plan connects your Shopify store and publishes selected video to Shop App and TikTok Shop. Tolstoy Starter is $12/month billed monthly or $8/month billed annually, and includes 5,000 viewers per month, 2,000 AI Studio credits for AI-generated product content, and 500 Onsite AI credits for AI Sales Agent chats and try-ons. Higher tiers add usage and selected features.

Two things to know before you install. First, Tolstoy’s own Shopify page is explicit that standard on-storefront publishing generally requires a paid Player plan or free trial. The free tier mostly supports Shop App, not your own domain. Second, viewer-based billing with per-1,000 overage is the single most common complaint across Tolstoy’s one-star reviews. If your interest in Tolstoy is specifically the AI Studio and AI Sales Agent, it’s the only app in this comparison that bundles AI-generated product video with shoppable playback at an entry price under $20/month. If you only want shoppable widgets, Moast is cheaper and more predictable at the same volume.

What about Firework?

Firework is the enterprise-leaning option in this category. Its Shopify listing publishes a free Pilot plan (10 video uploads, up to 3 playlists, 1 login, shoppable videos on site, UGC importer, Shop App publishing), a Starter plan (50 video uploads, $10 per 1K additional video views, up to 10 playlists), and a Growth plan (unlimited uploads, $5 per 1K additional video views, up to 50 playlists, 5 logins, branding removal), with Pro and Enterprise tiers behind a sales call. Firework earns its reputation on large-catalog deployments and omnichannel distribution. For a small DTC brand under 50,000 monthly PDP sessions, the Starter plan is reasonable and the Growth plan is overkill. If you already have a sales relationship or are planning a livestream commerce program, Firework is in the conversation. Otherwise, Moast or Whatmore handle the same job for less.

How to choose

The decision tree is shorter than the feature matrices make it look.

  • Most small Shopify stores: Moast. Flat $15/month, no view meter, Built for Shopify.
  • You post new Reels or TikToks every week and want AI tagging: Whatmore, starting at $29/month.
  • You want AI-generated product video and shoppable playback in one app: Tolstoy, starting at $12/month (or $8/month annual).
  • You have budget for a deeper platform with 16+ widget themes and plan to add live shopping later: Videowise, starting at $19/month Pro with Advanced at $299/month.

Shoppable video is a single tool in a bigger getting-customers stack. If you’re also running Meta ads or a referral program, the videos you produce for each channel can usually be reused on PDPs through whichever app you pick above. Install one, pick two product pages to test, and give it 30 days of real traffic before deciding whether to upgrade.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best shoppable video app for a small Shopify DTC store?

For most small DTC brands, Moast. The free plan already covers product tagging, unlimited video views, and Instagram and TikTok import, and the $15/month Pro tier is flat with no view meter. If your bottleneck is producing fresh video rather than embedding it, Whatmore's $29/month Starter is the better step-up for AI product tagging and daily social auto-sync.

Which pricing model is cheapest for a growing store?

It depends on whether your bill scales with features or with traffic. Flat feature-gated pricing (Moast at $15/month) stays predictable as PDP conversion improves. Click- and view-based apps (Whatmore, Tolstoy, Firework) raise the bill as videos get watched. Visitor- and impression-based pricing (Videowise) ties cost to overall site traffic. Model your actual PDP video views at your current traffic before you pick a tier, not just the headline price.

Do I need to pay for a shoppable video app at all?

Not immediately. Moast's free plan covers product tagging, unlimited views, basic analytics, and up to 10 videos per widget, which is enough to test shoppable video on one or two PDPs. Whatmore's free tier covers 300 to 500 video clicks per month on an active storefront embed. The case for paying usually arrives when you want unlimited videos per widget, revenue attribution, daily social sync, or branding removal, not before.

What should I check on each pricing page before signing up?

Four things. The entry paid tier price (not the sticker number for the enterprise plan). The pricing gate: is the meter on features, clicks, views, impressions, or visitors? The overage rate per 1,000 units once you exceed the cap. And whether the free tier supports a real on-storefront embed or only Shop App preview, because that's the gap several apps hide at the top of their page.
