The Best AI Brand Monitoring Tools for Small B2B Founders Catching Buyer Signals

We compared four AI-powered social listening tools against their current pricing pages and public plan documentation. One is the right pick for small B2B teams that need real-time alerts without an enterprise contract; the rest fit specific budgets and workflows.

The verdict

For most small B2B founders, Brand24 is the AI brand monitoring tool we recommend. Its real-time Pro tier is the cheapest published plan that pairs same-minute alerts with the AI Brand Assistant and AI Events Detection, and the unlimited-users model means marketing, sales, and support can all see the same mention feed without per-seat math. If a $399-a-month annual commitment is too much, BrandMentions Starter at $79 a month annually is the best entry on the shortlist, and Awario Starter at $29 a month annually is the budget pick for a founder who just needs to catch mentions and doesn't yet need AI insight layers. Mention's $599 Company Plan makes sense only when a mid-market team needs genuinely unlimited users on an annual contract, and we wouldn't point a 5-30 person B2B team to it first.

Most small B2B founders don't have a brand-monitoring problem. They have a buying-signal problem. Someone on LinkedIn asks for a tool recommendation, a Reddit thread complains about a competitor's pricing, a blog mentions your category, and nobody on the team sees it until the window to reply has closed. An AI social listening tool is the fix: a feed that pulls mentions of your brand, your competitors, and your category across social, forums, news, blogs, and reviews, scores them for sentiment, and alerts you when something matters.

This guide is deliberately scoped to small B2B teams of roughly 5-30 people with no dedicated analyst. We compared Brand24, BrandMentions, Awario, and Mention against each tool's current pricing page and public documentation, not vendor demos. Every plan name, cap, update cadence, and dollar figure in this piece came from an official source; the AI feature claims came from the same place. We didn't run a six-week hands-on bench. This is a documentation and pricing comparison, and the scores reflect that.

How we tested

We compared four tools on their public pricing pages and documentation as of October 2026, weighted most heavily toward the price and limits of the cheapest plan that pairs real-time alerts with AI sentiment, because that's the plan a small B2B team actually buys. Scores are out of 100 and reflect what each tool's own documentation proves, not hands-on test results.

Real-time alert entry price

We recorded the cheapest published plan on each vendor's pricing page that updates in real time (not every 12 hours, not hourly), on annual billing where available. The lower the price for a real-time plan, the higher the score.

AI feature depth on the entry real-time plan

For the real-time plan identified above, we listed the AI features the vendor explicitly includes on the pricing page (for example AI sentiment, AI Brand Assistant, AI Events Detection, AI Insights, Social Intelligence Advisor). Add-ons were only counted when the pricing page or docs stated a specific extra cost.

Source coverage

We compared the source list each vendor publishes on its site: social networks, Reddit and forums, news, blogs, review sites, podcasts, and newsletters. Breadth, not depth, since the public pages don't disclose per-source volume.

Keyword and mention capacity on the real-time plan

From each pricing page we recorded the keyword count, monthly mention cap, and user count on the real-time plan. The higher the capacity per dollar, the higher the score.

Transparency and small-team fit

We checked whether every price, limit, trial length, and overage policy was published without a sales call, whether month-to-month billing was offered, and whether the entry plan was realistically usable by a 5-30 person team. Enterprise-only or quote-gated plans scored lower.

88 / 100

The cheapest published plan that pairs real-time alerts with the AI Brand Assistant and unlimited users, which is the plan a small B2B team actually needs.

Best forSmall B2B teams of 5-30 people that need real-time alerts and AI sentiment without an annual enterprise contract.

What we liked

  • The Pro plan at $399 a month on annual billing is the lowest published tier with real-time updates plus the AI Brand Assistant, AI Events Detection, AI Insights for 2 projects, AI Topics for 2 projects, and Lightning Search.
  • Every paid plan above Individual includes unlimited users at no per-seat cost, so sales, marketing, and support can all watch the same feed.
  • Brand24's pricing page states it won't auto-charge for exceeding keyword or mention limits; it contacts the customer about an upgrade instead.

What to know

  • The Individual plan at $199 a month annually only updates every 12 hours and caps keywords at 3 with 2,000 mentions, which is tight for a serious small-team use case.
  • The AI Visibility module for tracking brand mentions across major AI platforms is a paid add-on on top of a Brand24 subscription, not part of the Pro plan.

The best entry-plan value on the list, with a published $79/month annual tier and real-time updates available two tiers up.

Best forFounders who want a published, affordable starter plan with sentiment and competitor tracking before committing to a real-time tier.

What we liked

  • Starter is $79 a month billed annually (or $99 billed quarterly) and includes 5 keywords, 5,000 mentions, 1 user, daily updates, and AI sentiment, undercutting Brand24's entry tier.
  • The real-time Expert plan at $399 a month annually gives 50 keywords, 75,000 mentions, 10 users, AI Brand Assistant, Boolean search, and 100% white-label reports, which is a lot of keyword headroom at that price.
  • The pricing page states BrandMentions won't auto-charge for exceeding mention limits and will contact the customer about an upgrade instead.

What to know

  • Starter is capped at 1 user, so any team with two or more people needing access must go to Pro at $249 a month annually before even reaching real-time.
  • API access and full historical data are gated to the Enterprise plan from $1,099 a month annually, which is a jump many small teams won't make.

The budget pick: $29 a month annually gets a working mention feed, though the AI layer is thinner and API access is Enterprise-only.

Best forSolo founders and very small B2B teams that want a published, cheap starter plan before deciding whether a listening tool belongs in the stack at all.

What we liked

  • Starter is $29 a month billed annually or $49 month-to-month, covering 3 topics, 30,000 monthly mentions, unlimited keywords per topic, and 1 user with no credit card required for the trial.
  • Pro at $89 a month annually jumps to 15 topics, 300,000 monthly mentions, 10 team members, Boolean search, data export, and shareable reports, which is a very generous mention cap at that price.
  • The pricing page publishes every plan, limit, and trial condition without a sales call.

What to know

  • API access and white-label reports are Enterprise-only ($249 a month annually or $399 monthly), which is a large step up from the Pro plan.
  • Awario positions itself as a traditional dashboard tool rather than an AI-insights platform; it doesn't publish AI-insight features comparable to Brand24's AI Brand Assistant or Mentionlytics' Social Intelligence Advisor.

A fine mid-market monitoring product that's no longer priced for small B2B teams after the Solo, Pro, and Pro Plus plans were closed to new customers.

Best forTeams of 50+ that genuinely need unlimited users on one monitoring feed and can commit to a $7,188 annual contract.

What we liked

  • The Company Plan at $599 a month on an annual contract includes unlimited users, 5 alerts, 50,000 mentions, Advanced and Boolean alerts, and a dedicated account manager.
  • Unlimited-user pricing avoids per-seat math when a 20-person mid-market team all needs access.

What to know

  • Solo, Pro, and Pro Plus were retired for new customers as of July 2025, so the only purchasable plan is Company at $599 a month on an annual contract.
  • Historical data (up to 2 years) and the REST API are paid add-ons on top of the $599 base, with pricing available only through an account manager.
  • Publish and respond features were retired on January 30, 2026; Mention is now a listening-only product, with its own site pointing users to Agorapulse for engagement workflows.

If a conversation about your category happens on LinkedIn, Reddit, a niche forum, or a competitor’s review page, and nobody on your team sees it that day, you’ve probably lost whatever opportunity was in it. That’s the real reason small B2B teams buy a brand monitoring tool, and it’s the frame we used to score these four.

Who this is for

This guide is for B2B founders running teams of roughly 5 to 30 people who want to catch buying-intent mentions, competitor complaints, and recommendation requests without hiring a dedicated analyst or signing an enterprise contract. If your week is already full of inbound calls, you probably don’t need any of these yet; a daily Google Alert plus a weekly Reddit search is a reasonable zero-cost version. If you have no social presence to monitor at all, start by building a lead-capture surface before you worry about mentions.

Two things this guide deliberately doesn’t do. It’s not an AI search visibility tracker guide (that’s a different job: monitoring how ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews describe your brand), and it’s not a desk comparison of enterprise suites like Brandwatch, Meltwater, or Sprinklr, which are quote-gated and priced out of reach for most small B2B teams.

Our pick: Brand24

Brand24’s public pricing page lists five tiers: Individual at $199 a month annually ($249 monthly), Team at $299 annually, Pro at $399 annually, Business at $599 annually, and Enterprise from $1,499 a month billed annually. For a small B2B team, Pro is the plan that matters, and it’s why Brand24 is our pick.

The Pro plan at $399 a month annually includes 12 keywords, 40,000 mentions per month, unlimited users, real-time updates, Lightning Search, AI Sentiment Analysis, AI Events Detection, the AI Brand Assistant, AI Insights for 2 projects, AI Topics for 2 projects, and Smart Context Search as an add-on. That’s the cheapest published plan we found that pairs real-time alerts with a meaningful AI insight layer. The tiers below it update every 12 hours (Individual) or every hour (Team), which is fine for weekly reporting and useless for same-day reply.

Two Brand24 details matter for small teams. First, the pricing page states Brand24 doesn’t automatically charge for exceeding keyword or mention limits; if an account collects more than the plan allows, Brand24 contacts the customer about a potential upgrade. That removes a common procurement risk in this category. Second, every tier above Individual includes unlimited users, so a 10-person B2B team pays the same monthly amount as a 2-person one.

The trade-offs are real. The $199 Individual plan is genuinely tight for a working team: three keywords, 2,000 mentions, and 12-hour updates. And Brand24’s AI Visibility module, which tracks brand exposure across major AI platforms, is a paid add-on on top of the base plan, not part of Pro. If what you really want is AI search visibility rather than conventional social listening, that’s a separate budget line.

The runner-up: BrandMentions

BrandMentions has the best published entry price on the shortlist for a team that wants more than Awario’s dashboard but isn’t ready for Brand24 Pro. Its pricing page lists Starter at $79 a month billed annually ($99 billed quarterly) with 5 keywords, 5,000 mentions per month, 1 user, daily updates, and AI sentiment; Pro at $249 annually with 20 keywords, 30,000 mentions, 2 users, and hourly updates; Expert at $399 annually with 50 keywords, 75,000 mentions, 10 users, real-time updates, AI Brand Assistant, Boolean search, and 100% white-label reports; and Enterprise from $1,099 a month annually with custom limits.

The Expert tier is interesting at $399 a month annually: it’s the same price as Brand24 Pro but gives 50 keywords and 75,000 mentions against Brand24’s 12 keywords and 40,000. For a team that genuinely needs to track many brands and competitors, that’s more headroom per dollar. The reasons we didn’t rank it first for small B2B are the user caps on the lower plans (Starter is 1 user, Pro is 2 users), the lack of a sub-$79 published starter, and the fact that API access and full historical data are gated to the Enterprise plan, which starts at $1,099 a month on annual billing. That’s a jump most 5-30 person teams won’t make.

BrandMentions also publishes a no-surprise overage policy on its pricing page: it won’t charge more than the subscription plan price, and will contact the customer about an upgrade if the mention limit is reached. That matches Brand24’s approach and is a reason both are easier to recommend than quote-gated tools.

The budget pick: Awario

If $399 a month is too much and you mostly want to catch mentions rather than get AI narratives about them, Awario is the right starting point. Its pricing page lists Starter at $49 a month ($29 billed annually) with 3 topics (unlimited keywords per topic) and 30,000 new mentions per month. Pro is $149 a month ($89 billed annually) with 15 topics, 300,000 mentions per month, 10 team members, and data export. Enterprise is $399 a month ($249 billed annually) with 1,000,000 mentions, 50,000 stored mentions per topic, unlimited team members, and Boolean search.

Awario is positioned differently from the two picks above it. It’s a traditional dashboard tool rather than an AI-insight platform; its pricing page doesn’t advertise an “AI Brand Assistant” or “Social Intelligence Advisor” the way Brand24 and Mentionlytics do. It also puts API access on the Enterprise tier, which starts at $399 a month monthly or $249 annually, so Zapier-style workflows and inbound-signal pipelines are gated to a higher plan than they’re on some competitors.

For a solo founder or a two-to-four-person team that just wants a feed of mentions to scan each morning and isn’t yet sold on paying for AI narratives on top of them, Starter at $29 a month annually is the cheapest honest option on the list.

When Mention makes sense (and when it doesn’t)

Mention used to be the obvious small-business pick in this category, and it’s no longer. As of July 2025, the legacy self-serve tiers (Solo, Pro, and Pro Plus) were discontinued for new customers, leaving the Company Plan at $599 a month on an annual contract as the only option. That plan includes 50,000 mentions per month as a hard cap shared across all alerts and workspaces, with data collection stopping when it’s reached until the 30-day rolling cycle resets.

Two features that look like they should be in the base plan aren’t. The Company Plan at $599 includes 5 alerts, 50,000 mentions, and unlimited users, but historical data (up to 2 years) and the REST API are paid add-ons. And Mention retired its own publish-and-respond features on January 30, 2026, pointing users toward Agorapulse for that workflow, so Mention is a listening-only product now.

The $599 Company Plan can still be the right answer for teams of 50+ where unlimited users is the operative word, but for a 5-30 person B2B team, the per-month cost and the annual contract shape make it the hardest sell on the list. Among the four tools here, it’s the one most likely to be the wrong choice for the audience this guide is written for.

How to choose between them

The decision tree is short. If you need real-time alerts and AI sentiment for a team that genuinely uses the feed, Brand24 Pro at $399 a month annually is the pick. If you want a cheaper on-ramp with sentiment and competitor tracking but can live with daily updates until you upgrade, start with BrandMentions Starter at $79 a month annually. If you want to prove the category is worth paying for at all, buy Awario Starter at $29 a month annually and give it a quarter. And if a 50-person mid-market team genuinely needs unlimited users on one feed and can commit annually, Mention’s Company Plan at $599 a month is a reasonable but no longer small-business purchase. We wouldn’t run more than one of these at a time.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best AI brand monitoring tool for a small B2B team?

In our documentation comparison, Brand24's Pro plan at $399 a month on annual billing is the cheapest published tier that pairs real-time alerts with the AI Brand Assistant, AI Events Detection, and unlimited users, which is the combination a 5-30 person B2B team actually needs. If that's out of budget, BrandMentions Starter at $79 a month annually is the best inexpensive entry, and Awario Starter at $29 a month annually is the budget pick for teams that just want to see mentions and will add AI insight tools later.

Do small B2B teams really need to pay for one of these?

Only if conversations outside your own channels are generating meaningful pipeline. If you can count the monthly mentions of your brand, competitors, and category on two hands, Google Alerts and manual search are fine. The case for paying starts when you want sentiment scoring, Boolean queries, same-day alerts across sources you don't already read, and a feed that more than one person on the team can watch at once.

What's the cheapest plan with real-time updates?

Among the four tools we compared, the lowest published real-time price is $399 a month on annual billing, which is where both Brand24 Pro and BrandMentions Expert start. Brand24 Individual and BrandMentions Starter are cheaper but update every 12 hours and daily respectively, so they won't catch a conversation while it's still live. Awario doesn't publish an "every X hours" distinction on its pricing page in the same way, which is worth confirming on a trial.

How often is this ranking refreshed?

We re-check this guide whenever one of the four tools changes its pricing page, its real-time plan threshold, or its AI feature set. The category moved several times in the last year: Mention retired Solo, Pro, and Pro Plus to new customers, Brand24 restructured its tiers and launched the AI Visibility add-on, and BrandMentions added Audience Demographics. We update the ranking and note which score moved and why.
